Flagging off the disbursement in Mokwa, the state governor, Mohammed Umaru Bago, represented by his deputy, Yakubu Garba, explained that the cash grant is aimed at providing immediate relief and temporary resettlement support for the victims.

He said, “Each household that was affected by the flood will receive N1 million relief funds. Shop owners, whose means of livelihood were disrupted, will receive N500,000 each.”;

In addition to the cash grant, various food items were distributed to the affected families to ease their hardship.

Bago also disclosed that the state is still awaiting the Federal Government’s intervention in constructing permanent housing units for the displaced persons in the area.
